| | tomi97 | Dec 24, 2005 5:00am | Amen bother!!! I can't stand crappy pens with ink that smears and people that ogle over the way I write, but the thing that really drives em' nuts is when they step up an try to use my computer and they find the mouse located to the left rather than the right.
My wife, gota lover her, when her cousin comes to pay us a visit and stay for a few days will switch using computers and begin moving my mouse to the right side and they find it pretty difficult to use it any other way. The funny thing is... the cord isn't long enough to take it to the right side without having to move the entire thing, desk included!! Hahahaha! I set it up that way on purpose. Then watch a righty feel very ill at ease! Hehehe ;-) |

I am still some kind of hybrid here... using a right side mouse, but still beeing left sided.
Normaly I use my left hand only for soft, accurate and intelligent work, all other kind of actions are done with the right hand... like to saw, hammer, screw, etc. |

I don't recall experiencing any awkwardness or embarrassment. I have never noticed the left hand desks! I can't use most potato peelers, but I see that as a bonus.
...oh and I do find myself trying to spot the left hander if I am at a meeting (perhaps that is a reflection of my lack of interest in what is being discussed .... ahem)
21. LOL - Since the advent of cordless mice, it is easier to use the computer without faffing about with the lead etc.
24. I hadn't realised how awkward scissors were until I used left handed ones, which was a bit of a revelation, and perhaps just reflects how much left handers just get on and adapt to a right hand world.
.... and hey, left handers can do mirror writing !
I think I have had the comment about handwriting, and that I don't write like a left hander (and I presume that means with the hand at a funny upside down angle, but I have seen some right handers do that).
Fortunately, I went to school after the era of tying hands behind back and forcing left handers into righthandeddom... |

One day he noticed i was left handed,(maybe i was hammering or something) his face light up in revalation and he said, "Oh your left handed!", and i had to laugh because he had this look of sympathy like it was a handicap or something. Manual can openers are also cruel. |

I don't get that "must-see-left-handed-writing!!!" thing, of course, watching me write is like watching torture in high-speed. I can never get letters to look quite right, the word "scrawl" seems tidy in comparison. The reason for this is that whilst I wasn't forced into right-handedness, I didn't have a teacher who understood the needs of left-handed new writers. So I learnt it exactly as the right-handed people learnt it. Now, I can't even write a paragraph without getting writer's cramp. I can't get the hang of better writing, except mirror writing.
As for the mouse, it is bloody hard to use a right-aligned pointer and a right-fingered mouse on the left side, I can't stand the right-aligned pointer with any left mouse, because it feels in some indescribable way, weird. |
